I need links and/or studies showing the danger of airbags

I was shocked today to see a friend of mine let his 6 year old, 40 pound DD ride in the front passenger seat of his car. No booster, just the adult seatbelt. :( :( :( I normally let car seat misuse go with friends (they know I'm a CPST and come to me if they are interested), but this is just so incredibly dangerous that I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to her and I hadn't said anything to him.

This isn't someone who will just take my word for it that what he is doing is dangerous. He will need proof. So does anyone have some links to good studies showing the dangers of a child that size in front of an airbag and riding without a booster?

I do have the law on my side - $100-500 fine for an improperly restrained child (he may be convinced by money). The law in NV is 6 and 60 pounds. She is over 6 years old but no where close to 60 pounds.

"any person who is transporting a child who is less than 6 years of age and who weighs 60 pounds or less in a motor vehicle operated in this state which is equipped to carry passengers shall secure the child in a child restraint system"

See the 'or less' at the very end? I think it negates the 'and who weighs 60 pounds' part.

Man, what a mess that statement is! (but the only reason I question it is because it's so far off from the growth charts... an 'average' child is 60 pounds at like 8 or 9)

I hope he's convinced by that article...the laws of the state simply can't compete the laws of physics on this one (I wonder if youtube has any shocking videos of dummies being decapitated by airbags...hmmm)

If you find one -- please do post it. I have a daycare family whose 58lb 5yo constantly rides up in the front seat of dad's car, no booster. I'd love to share it with them (not that I think it would do any good, but I don't feel right unless I keep trying.)
