Vent Disturbing email I just got from Diapers.com

I got an advertisement email suggesting that at "this stage"- 18 months-my daughter is ready for a forward facing booster seat. Why are they promoting something like that? I sent them an email, not sure that it will count for much. I used to shop with them. . . should I mention that my 18 month old just barely weighs 20 pounds.

Anyone else get something like that? I mean, I realize most people are still oblivious to the new 2 years old recommendation but a booster seat for an 18 month old?? This is way worse than the Target ad I got in the paper which featured an infant forward facing sandwiched between two ginormous bags full of groceries.

Ok, just had to get that off of my chest!

Some of the confusion might come from the fact that people incorrectly call forward facing harnessed seats or combination seats 'boosters' when they don't really mean boosters.

The email probably was referring to a harnessed forward facing seat, which is still of course, horrible, dangerous advice, but not quite as egregious as putting a baby in a booster!

I see what you mean! I just hope that maybe they will take into consideration either not making recommendations like that at all or informing people that rear facing is best. I wish more people understood the benefits. I get weird looks all day. But, that's quite alright. My kid is tiny and will probably still be rearfacing when she starts preschool-will have to just get used to the looks!
