Convince me I don't really need a Regent!

Target.com has Regents on sale for $179.99 w/ free shipping (granted, they are Aug 2007 DOM, from what I've heard). My oldest will be 4 in Nov. and is 41 inches tall and 42 lbs. Currently in her GN, she is on the second-to-top slots w/ a bit more room left on that slot (maybe about 1/4 to 1/2 inch before even w/ slot). Do I truly need a Regent for her, or will the GN probably last her to booster age? Or, do I really need a Regent for her? I don't really have the $180, but can figure it out if she needs one (especially at that price). TIA!

Unless your child has special needs, you don't need a Regent. The Nautilus will be more than adequate.

The Regent is in our Target ad this week. I think it also was 179. I didn't see one in my Target though.

I don't think you need a Regent. My DD has the same stats as your child (but DD is 5) and she has SOO much room to grow in it, and it's such a huge seat. I'm probably selling ours soon... I've got buyer's remorse (we bought it a year and a half ago when she outgrew her Scenera in DH's car--we put the MA from my car in his car and got the Regent).

No, she's not special needs, so the Regent probably would be overkill. Just got the itch when I saw the price!

I agree that you probably don't need it, but just wanted to say that we have one for my 4.5 year old and we love it. I also wanted to point out that if you did decide to get one, you can also get it at Amazon for the same price except you don't have to pay tax. Also, the DOM is pretty current. I got mine last month and it has a July/2009 DOM.

Hm. We have a Nautilus - bought it for our 5 1/2 year old, but she didn't find it comfy. She's long and lean and had a fair bit of growing room in it as far as the harness height. To'ed and Fro'ed A LOT about getting a Regent and finally decided to, especially as they are going the way of the dodo and I kept hearing so many good things about them. And she loves it! So do I! It's kind of a monster of a seat, but she's so comfortable and has so much room and growing room that I broke down and bought a second one for our other car. Our almost 3 year old DD2 is now using the Nautilus in DH's car and seems fine in it but she'll inherit the Regent. I agree that it's a lot of seat, but I have a lot of peace knowing that my girls are going to be harnessed a long, long time. And DD1 really enjoys riding in it. I worried that some of her friends (who are in booster seats) would give her a hard time about being harnessed still, but nope. They all want a seat like DD1's! :D Of course, it helps that hers is the pretty Madison one. I really truly give Regents two thumbs up, especially if you aren't going to have to do 3 across.

My son will be 6 the end of Oct he is 45-46" tall and 51 lbs. I debated getting the Regent or a Frontier or even another booster. I LOVE the Regent. It is a big seat but his legs are comfortable and the seat is soft and comfortable. I actually like that it is so big! It looks more like a big boy seat and not a "baby" carseat and I think that is why he does not mine riding in it. It fits great in my trooper. I sold some items on craigslist to pay for it =) I bought mine from Amazon for 179.00.

Well, you do need another seat so that you can have one in DH's car, don't you? ;) Seriously, we love our Regent, even though DS will never "need" the height/weight limits. The only reason we're going to stop using it soon is because it's a tad wide for 3-across in our Focus/Escort.

I'm not one to discourage you from buying seats... But really, that money could buy you a Parkway Slide Guard instead! With some left over for ice cream if you are lucky!

We love ours so much we bought a second!:D The second was off amazon just 1.5 weeks ago and it is a 8/09 manu date. My 7 year old loves the regent and says it is very comfortable. We do have the room for it though as we have a van and in our other car we only usually transport him in it so we have plenty of room. I also really love it as I have yet to not be able to install it in a car when I have tried.
