FP Safe Voyage in an Explorer

The FPSV should arrive soon and I need to install it rear facing in my husbands '03 Explorer. I know the middle is the safest spot for it, does it install well there? Any tips that the manual might not be clear about?

Thanks,
Kristin

It should, yes: my Wizard & Boulevard (same basic shell design) installed well RF in the center of an older Explorer ... I don't have my LATCH manual, but just make sure to follow both vehicle + carseat manuals :) If it has a 60/40 split I found that positioning the base solidy over the crack & installing with LATCH worked best in my Escape -- otherwise, with seatbelt, it tended to loosen overtime by slipping into the crack!

This is our first explorer, so I'm not sure how others are, but I know this one each seat is independent and goes down individually. Maybe it's because of the 3rd row of seats? I would prefer to use the seatbelt rather than latch. I saw the thing on consumer reports that said latches rip, is that true?

Welll, the Boulevard fits well in my father's 02 Explorer and the FPSV and BV have the same shell, so I would guess it would fit well.

I installed the BV in the center of the Explorer using the lap-only belt. It installed beautifully. The only "issue" I ran into was that it was difficult to raise the outboard seat in order to get into the 3rd row seat.

Good luck!
