Toddler Car Seats in a 2006 Nissan Sentra

Hello! I have recently purchased a 2006 Nissan Sentra and I am now needing a new seat for my 3 year old. He is 41" tall (short legs, long torso) and right at 40 lbs. I don't want him in a booster yet, but I live out in the middle of no where and I can't test out seats in my car. I'm hesitant to purchase a Regent in fear that it will not fit in my car and then I owe shipping both ways to return it. I don't seem to have many choices for harnessing above 40 lbs. I've read the Radian is not for kids with a long torso, the Regent is HUGE, and the Safety 1st Apex is just "OK" from reviews I've read.

I'm about at my wits end looking for a seat to fit!

the apex is pretty much the same size as the regent, so if space is the issue... id void the apex.
The radian has taller slots than the apex, but the regent has the tallest. So depending on how long you want to harness him would make a difference.
What seat is he in currently?

Is he the only? or the only for a good while? How many people do you need to fit into the car at once?
The regent really only takes up the same room as a full grown adult does. It would fit, take up a whole seat, but it would fit.
I have one in a 03 corolla. If it is in the center no one can sit by it, if it is on one side someone can sit on the other side with inches in between.

The Radian is wonderful for tall torso'ed kids. You won't get the time out of it that you would a Regent, but it has taller slots than a Marathon or most Apexes.

If you have a Target near you you can order the Radian online and then return it to your local store if it doesn't work. Same thing with the Apex, though I don't think Target carries the Regent online.

He's not the only one, I have my daughter RF. We're done at two though, so we only need to fit two car seats in the back. However, we can't move the passenger seat up any further because my husband already has his knees hitting the dash. i drive because I'm the only one short enough to fit in the driver seat with my daughter RF behind me. That is why I'm hesitant to get the Regent. Online it gives a depth of 22" and that would hang far over the seat in back almost hitting the back of the passenger seat, leaving no leg room for my son.

That's generally not an issue - most kids will sit Indian-style (or, to be PC "criss cross applesauce") in the Regent.

weird, I posted a reply and it didnt show.
Anyway, we are tall and always have the seats all the way back and it has never been an issue with DS. His seat doesnt hang over and I would bet the seat bepths are the same. Ive not seen the new sentra in real life, but from their site it looks a little more roomier than my corolla.
Target.com does carry the regent, and I would try finding a local store that might let you try it.
bad example but you can pretty much see all of the base http://pic50.picturetrail.com/VOL493/2241001/9131735/133678698.jpg

The Regent measures roughly 19" inches from the vehicle seat bight (the crease where the vehicle's seating area and vehicle seatback meet on the vehicle seat) to the front edge of the Regent in my van, when installed with the recline bar. This is a rough measurement taken with a teething toddler trying to get a hold of the measuring tape to chew on it, lol. Your mileage may vary depending on the contouring or angle of the vehicle seat cushion or seat back, and it may vary depending on whether the Regent is installed with or without the recline bar. Hope this helps a little. :)
