Here is a question from another board

"Ryan is two pounds from being too heavy for his bucket seat, so we need to get him a new carseat soon. I was thinking about moving him into Henry's convertible car seat then getting a booster seat for Henry.

Henry is 2 (3 in december) about 37 pounds and I probaly 37 -38 inches tall. Is a booster seat with a back (that can be removed later) and side head padding, and a five point harness okay for his age, wieght etc? How does a booster seat with everything listed above compare to a good ol convertible seat in terms of safety?

Also, where can I find ratings on booster seats?

I hope this doesn't sound bad, but I am trying to save some $$$ and go up to the booster seat now ( with everything listed above) rather than buy two new seats for Ryan now (two different cars) and then two booster seats for Henry later. We would have a total of at least 7 car seats for just 2 boys!!! But I am not willing to comprimise safety for money"

A harnessed booster is a fine option for a 2-yr old.

You might mention to her that many harnessed boosters don't make great boosters after the fact, and see if you can steer her towards the Nautilus - the reviews here seem to say it works okay as an actual booster.

Definitely steer her toward the Nautilus. She can keep him harnessed for a while yet (obviously a 3 year old is too young for a BPB) and then she will already have a high back and then backless booster for later.

I'm steering towards the GN. Sent the link for Kyle Miller and spoke about the 40 lb combo seats are are bad idea for the different reasons. Hopefully she'll be open to the idea esp after the KM site.
