Cool story-- scary picture

The Washington Post has been running a series of articles about a family trying to recover from drug use. It has been a very interesting series. A picture in today's paper, however, scared me.

It is hard to be sure, but the baby in the picture looks like she has far outgrown the infant carseat and also needs to have the harness tightened. It is possible that the straps were loosened after she got out of the car, but they look pretty loose! I can only hope they weren't like that when she was in the car.

It doesn't look like the crotch strap is buckled. I sure hope it was buckled and tightened in the car! It's hard to tell if the baby's outgrown the seat or not from the angle the pic is taken.

You know it's really sad, but I see babies harnesses that look like that all the time!!! What are the parents thinking?? It is total lack of education of guess?

Did you click on the image to pull up the larger version? I think the camera angle could be tricky on the size issue. She could have several inches of growing room left. However, the harness is not buckled at all--only the chest clip is fastened.
