DVD player for train ride

We were going to borrow my parents' portable DVD player, but they just told me it only works with a cigarette lighter thingy (no battery) ~ we're leaving Wednesday on a 2 day train trip & I just know we'll grow bored of the usual toy bag + books  Can anyone recommend a REALLY CHEAP but not poor quality DVD player? Preferably from a major chain retailer so I can return/exchange it easily

I know Walmart has them for $90 (its a 7" screen - my brother has one and likes it just fine), but I'm not sure if it has a battery pack with it. My kiddos would LOVE going on a train ride like that, although I agree it could get a little boring after 2 days! Good luck, have fun on the train, and enjoy each others company and the one-on-one time you'll get to have!

I would consider taking just our laptop and plugging it in to the electrical outlet. I think Amtrak has outlets in business class, not sure if they do in coach. (I thought you had mentioned a laptop in previous posts, sorry if I have you confused with another poster). Otherwise try to find a player with a rechargeable battery plus a standard electric A/C power cord so you can run it either way if an outlet is available. Bon voyage.

Thanks, we did have a LapTop, but someone stole it last summer at a Wine Festival  :( The longest part of our trip is in coach & I just found out I could rent a DVD player through Amtrack, but the cost is close enough to buying so I figured I might as well buy if I can

Thanks, I'll check them out :) I made it in that thread at the end, but my search didn't find it (or I overlooked it, LOL)
