What're the stated rearfacing height limits on your seats?

Whip out your newest manuals and see if your seats say anything about stated standing RF height. There are a few I think I know, but I'll let the real source be the authority

I can't find anything in the RN XT manual, but maybe because it's hard to read a .pdf...can anyone else find it? http://www.skjp.com/simg/4989342.pdf

Radians: The only listed height limit is 53" or ears even with top of shell. Nothing on the sticker on the seat.

BabyTrend 22: 28.5"
BabyTrend 30: 30"

Graco ComfortSport: tops of ears even with top of shell, shoulders even with top slots. Sticker on seat says 40".

My Radian 65 was manufactured in 07/08. It says use with a child 5 - 65 lbs and less than 51 inches on the sticker on the side.

Coccoro is 40 inches overall.

The manual (as far as I can see) doesn't require an inch of shell over the head, either. Some of us speculated that maybe they allow the head to be even with the top of the shell because of the European belt routing, but the rep said that's a mistake--they do abide by the one-inch rule.

Really on the Comfortsport for RF?

Yup. I don't think any child with shoulders even with or below the top slots would have their ears anywhere near the top of the shell. They make no distinction between RFing and FFing for height limits.

The TF states "head is 1 inch below top of seat" for RF and states 50" for FF. Then, on page 18 in a "death and serious injury warning box", it states that the seat can be used for children up to 50" tall. I suspect that a 50" child would have met the "head is 1 inch below top of seat" rule for RF sooner than 50" anyhoo, so I don't believe the overall 50" height limit will interfere with RF until 1".

Our convertibles are:
radian, tribute, and avenue.

I know avenue's max rfing height is 36 inches. I can check later, but I'm pretty sure evenflo goes by the 1 inch rule. I don't know radian, but I'm sure you all know what it is.

The manual states 36" in the rf section-

All infants less than one year old and 20 lbs. (9 kg)
MUST be rear-facing.
• Infant insert MUST be used for infants less than
15 lbs. (6.8 kg).
• Children 20 to 33 lbs. (9 to 15 kg) and up to
36 inches (91 cm) tall can use car seat rear-facing.

FPSVD has the one inch rule, Scenera says 36 inches and the Snugride says 29 inches. I never got a manual for the Como so I don't know what that says.

Ok, just looked up the Como manual. According to the chart, it says 33-34 inches (hard to tell with just a graph). Later, it states the one inch rule. :scratcheshead: Very few children that are 34 inches tall would be within an inch, unless they have a very long torso.

That's not possible, according to the manual at least. No one inch rule. All the rules are the same for FF or RF.

It's completely possible under those rules. Safeinthecar said ff before rf, which means the child's shoulders would be above the top slots, but their ears are not yet over the top of the shell. I think she was reiterating what you were saying about how low the top slots are.

But the seat cannot be used with shoulders over the top slots, regardless of the direction the child is facing. Further to that, the top slots are specifically and repeatedly prohibited for RFing use.

There is nothing that says that you can't still use the second from the top slot once the shoulders go over the top slot. It's not convenient to fish the harness out from under the child when they are that far below, but it's not dangerous either. If your only options to get a 24lb kiddo away from an event are ffing over the top slots or rfing with the harness uncomfortably below, rfing is the better option.

I have the manual for the CANADIAN Intera right here.

Before even opening it - right on the cover - it states :

Infant Restraint : 5-30lbs, 19-32"
Child Restraint : 22-40lbs, 29-40"
Booster Seat : 40-80lbs, 40-52"
Backless Booster Seat : 40-100lbs, 40-57"
There is no mention of a 1" rule in the manual.

The CANADIAN SafeSeat manual states :

5-30lbs AND "2" or less in height"
There is no mention of a 1" rule in the manual.

Kashi, your seats are labeled for Canadian use, right? I almost put a disclaimer in the first post that we know you guys are jilted up there with the 32" limits, but it's interesting to compare US to Canada seats, and now some of yours are getting taller (thank goodness! It's just TOO ironic that Dorel seats have a 32" max there, and a 34" min to FF here, lol)

Note made that these are Canadian seats.

Yes, there is. Page 7 of the manual says
Outgrowing child restraint
Prevent serious injury or death:
*Top of chid's ears must be below top edge of chid restraint.
*Child's shoulders MUST not be above top harness slots.

I agree, but this thread is about the stated rules in the manual, not best practice. ;)
