Finally got to BRU to see the CA and a question

I have to say overall I liked it. I did check out the issues others were having, and at least with ds2 it didn't seem too much of an issue. The harness/headrest seemed to fit ok. I do think I'd make a parental choice to put some covers on the straps if they dig into his neck, but other than that it fit him well. I was amazed how much room height wise my 4 1/2 yo would have in it shell height wise. He could still rf with plenty of shell above his head, but he's over 40lbs. Ffing, he had about a half inch in the harness, which I bet we'd lose if installed in the car. I was surprised because he's been too tall for the MA for a while now. Oh, and of course I didn't remember that my camera was in the diaper bag while there, thought I forgot it!

I think I'll probably end up getting one. Just waiting for an in-store BRU coupon...

I did notice there was a little piece around the hips (padding?) that just pulled out. Does anyone with a CA know if that has to be left in or if it's just for skinnier kids? I don't remember reading anything about it in the manual.

I also got to finally see/play with one yesterday. I love that it rf to 40lbs., has a tall shell/harness straps but besides that...wasn't impressed :duck: I can see the installations issues & the harness adjustor is sticky but they did fix the harness height adjustor
I like it as an alternative to the Radian. Especially since the Radian can be such a PITA in some vehicles :)

I do wish it were nicer for the price. But, I hate how reclined the radian is and the ability to be more upright rfing in the CA is really what is keeping me from getting a newer radian...

Ya, that is what I like about the CA vs the Radian. But as soon as SK comes out with a 30 degree boot....

I asked Russ about that, and he said they had no plans to currently. Something about people potentially using it with younger babies and having them too upright...Has anyone gotten any information to the contrary? I can hope, anyway. I still need to get to BabiesRUs to look at the CA, but I've appreciated all of the early feedback people have posted on this site.:D

The straps were definitely digging into ds's neck on the CA. Other than that, it was ok for a dorel seat, just way too much $$.

I've used it for 6 days now and am happy with it. I agree, it's pricey and I wish it ad more "meat" to it. But, I really wanted a tall shell and 40 lb rf seat so this is what we got. DD likes it and I am pleased. As for the padding, I'm not sure, but I've left it in for my 24 month old just because I didn't know what to do with it.

I wasn't too interested in the MR because it is so wide and not a tall shell. As for the RNs, I can't wait to see one in person and then, who knows - maybe I'll sell my MAs for RNs. I even came so close as to start an order with them at hipmonkey and get my CC out, but whimped out at the last moment.

The radian is fabulous, just wish it was easier to install more upright. I'm wondering if the newer rfing boot will make a difference. I need to play with mine a bit and see if I can get it more upright. Still torn on what to get for ds2! I guess I'll have to make up my mind by the time he gains another pound!

I was wondering the same thing about the padding. I searched the entire manual and couldn't find a thing about it. I took it out since it seemed to crowd my little guy.

As for the straps, I took the strap covers off my older Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 that I replaced with the CA. Worked like a charm. I noticed that the straps were just as close on that one and it has never been a problem with the straps.
