I know I've asked this already but...

I've DS will be 10 in December, he is 55lbs, 52in, with a 16.5" torso (not that the torso matters too much). I want to get him a new booster but I am torn on whether he really needs a HBB or LBB. I know he is starting to get embarrassed about being in a booster and he isnt the type of kid that I can just say "you're safer in a booster" because he will argue with me until he's blue in the face. At this point we are at the "we're not talking about it" stage.
SO...I've seen crash test footage of LBB vs.HBB and it scares the crap out of me. Do you all REALLY feel ok with kids in LBBs? I have the opportunity to buy a Recaro Start from a trusted source but its going to be a real stretch to come up with the money. I am getting a Clek Olli from a mama on swap, is that going to be good enough?

Thanks ladies....I wasnt sure about the whole side impact crash thing. I saw the dummy on the video smack its head on the side of the car so it freaked me out.

Ok so how does this sound...

DD1-8yrs, 52lbs, 49.75" in a Jane Indy Plus
DD2-6yrs, 48lbs, 49.25" in a BG
DS1-9.5yrs, 55lbs, 52" in a Clek Olli (HB TB until we get the Olli)

Would there be any advantage to using a Vivo over the Indy Plus for DD1?

Your plan sounds fine to me. I don't see any advantage with using the Vivo over the indy plus unless it the indy plus didn't provide a good belt fit.
