Honda recalls 440,000 cars due to airbag defects

'Honda said that the airbag inflators in some of its top-selling sedans can rupture because of too much air pressure causing metal fragments to shoot through the airbag and strike vehicle occupants.'

Whew! We have a 2002 civic so it isn't recalled. That scared me though!

My Accord is 11 years older and probably significantly more dangerous than these cars, due to its lack of air bags... LOL. I need a new car! :crying:

Me too. I double-checked on Honda's website (entered my VIN) to be sure. Didn't the recall say some 2002 Civics, or am I misremembering?

2002 Accords and some Acura TL's, but only 2001 Civics. I would be entering my VIN # just to be sure though. :thumbsup:

the vendor honda uses for the airbags, takata, has caused issues for them in the past..... early '90s accords and some others had seat belt buckles recalled made by them. :thumbsdown:

Yikes! My old Civic was a 2001. I totaled it, and got severe burns on my hands and wrists from the airbag, but...I'm alive, so I'm not complaining there.

Goes off the count my blessings....
