True Fit Premiere Owners - Reviews

I'm still considering getting a True Fit Premier for Max to give him more leg room so he can stay rear facing longer. I have installed a regular True Fit in my car before so I know that won't be a problem. I was wondering if anyone had purchased the Premiere yet and what they thought of it before I buy one.

I love mine, really really REALLY love mine lol. I made a post on here a little while ago with pics and such, but honestly I love it! I also love the original true fit, but I really love the ARB since Im not so keen on tethering :). I thought it was very easy to install just like the original TF, could get good upright or 45 degree angle easily etc. Some things might depend on the car, I am not entirely sure what specific cars seats are like but I think if you like the original TF you will like this one as well.

In my van, there is *much* less legroom than the Marathon or Radian. Why? Because the seatback has to be super upright to get it to lock against the ARB for a good fit. In the MA/RN you can recline the seatback a notch or two for those long long legs. Granted, I'm talking size 4/5 long legs here, so maybe he'll hit 35 before it's really an issue. I also was dismayed to find that Leah can't see the DVD player in the ceiling because of the wings, and I find the tight/close crotch strap to be annoying to deal with.

Here she is in it last weekend... http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats#5360971871301356162
And in the Radian you can see the seatback recline... http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats#5296727218524439154 (and you can probably even remember her big sister's legroom in the MA in the same van, lol http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/RFAlbum/SarahMA.aspx

Anyway, I'm working on a longer review, but I'd say if you have a minivan or reclining seats, it's not a net gain of legroom. In a smaller car where you maybe need a lot more legroom in the front seats, it might be better, I still have to try it in the Escape.

Meh, top tethering is very safe if a seat allows it, according to this study at NHTSA...

I love love love our TFP!!! Though installing it at a 45 degree angle with seat belts is a little bit of a trick, it's totally worth it. I love the anti rebound foot, love the cover (blue one), love how easy it is to adjust the harness, etc....

He is in a Chevy Malibu so no reclining seats at all. I'd love to get him some more leg room because he is crammed into the Boulevard right now.
