friends LO -- FF too soon -- 14 months 15 lbs!

I have told her all the safety reason -- she says though she has 2 reasons

#1 -- the baby screams and kicks the seat - and oh her poor little legs

#2 -- the mom doesn't like kids RF -- she needs to be able to see them

Can you get a hold of the instructions for her car seat that say minimum one year AND 22 pounds? (or whatever weight the manufacturer has listed) Her instructions also may mention a minimum height for FF which her child may or may not have met.

Do you mean FF too soon?

And just tell her that dead kids can't cry.

Maybe send her the link to http://www.joelsjourney.org/

(and she can get a mirror- I know it's a no-no, but if you find one that is soft and attaches SECURELY, you'd be fine. I'd rather the baby get hit with a plastic mirror than be FF so young!)

(oops yeah FF I meant - thanks)

I told her to read the side of her seat - that it wasn't rated to FF till 22 lbs.

she told me "whatever she is strapped in tight I am sure she is just fine"

I told her I have a nice mirror with lights and music that if she wants it that I would be happy to let her have it.
That I would install the seat back RF - nice and tight for her.

please pray she gets back in touch with me for more help!!!

Um....it's against the law. The law states the baby must be 1 year AND 20lbs. Period. :D

This is something that happens over and over again w/ parents of FTT kids. We just had this talk on the FTT board at BBC and at least one mom had turned her not 20# over 1yo ffing. :(

:( All you can do is educate her. My daughter and son were both only 18lbs at 1yr and at their well baby check the doctor must have repeated the 1yr AND 20lbs law at least five times.

I've seen that too on a different site. I have small kids (only one had the FTT dx) so those threads always catch my attention.

I say report her to the police for breaking the law. I am sorry but a child's life is nothing to play games with which is exactly what she is doing. You don't have to give your name so it can stay anonymous, but something needs to be done to let this woman know it is illegal!

For the record I did call the police on a couple that had their 8 month old FF and they were ticketed because it is illegal!
