Need stroller help for tall friend...

This is what she is looking for. Please help me help her find it.

She is tall. 5'10" or so. She needs a single lightweight stroller. She needs one tall enough for her and one that she won't kick when she walks. But she also needs it to recline since her son sleeps still.

Anyone have any ideas??

Wow, 6'10" tall is one tall mama! The Mutsy 4Rider has one of the tallest handles which gives lots of stride clearance, but I wouldn't consider it lightweight. It does have real seat though (as opposed to the bucket seats) so the seat back has a great recline. It looks like the Mutsy Slider might have the same adjustable, tall handle, so she could check that out as well (I think it's lighter).

Has she look at the Maclaren Techno XT (15lbs) or XLR?

They recline flat for newborns and they have height adjustable handles, so DH would max out the height of the handles.

ETA: DH is 5' 11" just for reference

We have the pink Mutsy for my lttle sister and we really don't like it. We never take it out now we just use it for neighborhood walks as it is such a nightmare to transport and the heaviest stroller I have seen! It was great as a bassinet but now the novelty has worn off by 10 months! The toddler seat is comfortable for her and we love being able to face her but it takes two people to get it out of the front door or in the trunk. I'm sure there's a better option as it is certainly not lightweight! I know there aren't many around and it looks really cool in the pictures but it's just not practical...It got sand in the wheels once and they wouldn't swivel! we have to have them send new ones and now take her to the park or beach in a Baby Trend jogger which we LOVE!
Go figure...the $150 Babies R Us stroller kicks the $1000 (with the accessories!) Mutsy's butt!

I own a Graco Ipo for my car and it is the best umbrella stroller- I love it and the handles are pretty high. I am tall and It is very comfortable to push around for hours. My only complaint about it is the sun shade...You can of course add one on though. Super easy to fold- the sturdiest umbrella stroller out there (I am not a Maclaren fan as the kids drag their feet on the ground). I really was shocked at the quality it is so wel made and only $79.99!

Ah, sorry you're not liking it. I've got the 4Rider, is that what you have as well? I'm a weak twig (seriously!) and I just push it out the door and tilt it back on it's rear wheels and bump it down our front steps (with my daughter in it and she weighs 31 pounds). For getting it into the vehicle, I just pop the seat off and put the chassis and seat in separately. It's quite light when done that way compared to my Valco Tri Mode that did not have a removable seat so I couldn't lift it into the rear on my own.

Ours is used on gravel all the time and we haven't had an issue with the wheels. Hopefully your new set doesn't give you any trouble.

Maybe you have the Urban Rider? (you just said "pink", you didn't give a model) If so, that one is heavier than the 4Rider so I can see it being more cumbersome.

Unsure which model we have but it's very heavy and although we get stopped everywhere we go by people telling us how great looking it is the jogger gets used a whole lot more now as my mom is short and it is 10 times easier for her. When Olivia is with me I'll use the IPO for sure- especially since I drive a Beetle and neither the Mutsy or the jogger stand a chance at getting in my car!

It is attractive and once it's out the door on the sidewalk it is a good "going for a walk" stroller...it's very had to get through store isles and doorways also so even going to a mall or restaurant we opt for the other. As much as we love the concept and look of it- with no cupholders and next to no storage (so shallow stuff just drags on the ground or falls out) and it's weight I would never place it in the convenient lightweight category!

We have a Maclaren Techno XT and my 6'3" DH has always loved it.

I played with a Silver Cross Pop and it has seriously high handles. I liked the stroller, but at 5'2" the handles were too high for me. It looks similar to a Maclaran. I think they are regularly about $350. I happened across one on Shnoops a while back for $100 or $150. It's currently sitting in my garage waiting for Craigslist. I have no idea where you can try them out in a b&m store though.

We've been happy with our Chicco C-5. It has tall handles too and my 6'3" husband has never had a problem kicking the tires. It reclines (but not flat) and has a decent basket for an umbrella stroller. Ours has been seriously abused and still held up incredibly well. It's been through 2 kids. I sometimes put them both in (70 lbs total) even though the weight limit is 35lbs or so. I recently used it to call a ton of stuff through a casino and into our hotel room. Probably over 100lbs. It's fallen out of the back of the van more than once.

The new Graco (Ipo) I think looks similar to be similar to the C-5. I haven't had them side by side, but the seat height looks similar. The Graco has a higher weight limit.

Are all 4 wheels the exact same size and the steering is in the rear wheels? If so, it's the Urban Rider. Are the front wheels smaller than the rear? If so, it's the 4Rider. Are the wheels NON air tires? Then it's the 4Rider Light (meaning lighter wheels)

It's definitely a full sized stroller. Width wise, it's not really any different than an UppaBaby Vista, Quinny Buzz, Valco TriMode, MBUS, BJCE, etc. So, you are correct, that it's not a typical mall umbrella style stroller, but it serves a different purpose.

As for cupholder, there are a plethora of cup holders you can buy as accessories. A couple good ones are the Think King Soft Buggy Cup and the Liquid Holster. Mutsy also offers a dinner tray that can be put on in place of the bumper bar.

If it is the 4Rider or 4Rider Light that you have, there is a great shopping basket available. It is actually removable so you can load stuff in while you shop and then clip it on to the stroller. And it's HUGE! They also offer a nursery bag which can clip onto the back of the seat or the handlebars and hold all of baby's necessities and be easily removed. I've actually replaced my bottom gray basket with the basket bag accessory (different than the shopping basket, it zips shut as you can see if you click the link) and it holds my tire pump, rain cover, sun cover and a few other things, then I've added the shopping basket to carry anything else we need.

And really, I'm not trying to tell you that you HAVE to like this stroller, I just know what it's like to have a stroller that you don't love (don't ask me how many I bought and sold before I found something I liked!) and if a few accessories might make your life easier and help you to enjoy the stroller, then cool! :thumbsup:

I agree though, it's not lightweight (I said that back in post #2), but full-sized strollers in that class, especially with air tires, never are.

The Maclaren Techno and Techno XLR are AWESOME for tall parents.

I'm 6'4" and have no problems with my BJCMD. Works for my 5.5" wife too. The single is even smaller and lighter. Full recline, but it does not sit upright enough for some people.

My DH is 6'2 but ALL torso (he has a 30" inseam--the same as me--and he's 6+ inches taller than me!) and strollers have been a huge issue for us thus far (whenever we'd go places with the stroller--like Disneyland--I'd spend most of the time pushing because him leaning over would hurt his back). I recently got an awesome deal on a Maclaren Triumph at Target and it seems this issue is now solved! We were in LA yesterday and not once did he complain about his back hurting while pushing DD--miracle of miracles to my ears!
