Radian Owners--a question for you:

We just got our new granite Radian 65 today, and I am ecstatic that it fits my 6.5 year-old with an inch to spare. I need the seat for an air/car trip, and I was not yet ready to put her in a booster for the long car trip.

One of the reasons I bought this CR is because it folds and can be carried by the shoulder strap, but I cannot find a separate shoulder strap. I found the loops that it goes into; am I supposed to use the tether anchor, or is it something else? Did a shoulder strap come with your seat? Some of the ads on websites I see a strap included with the -65, in others, it says only the -80 includes the padded shoulder strap.

I checked their website, and they do not sell a shoulder strap, so I am wondering if this is the removable strap from the carry bag you have to pay extra for.

Thanks for any info you can share.

I thought the shoulder strap was on the bag that is optional. Maybe I am wrong...

There is the red strap on the front of the seat, but that is definitely not a shoulder strap! :)

Mine doesn't have a shoulder strap for carrying either but I would consider using a suitcase shoulder strap. The strap connects to the webbing loops on the side of the seat so it really shouldn't matter what strap you use as long as it isn't going to break and let your seat fall and that the connectors are narrow enough to attach to the webbing. Don't carry the seat by the tether strap or harness. The red webbing strap is okay to use for carrying.

There was no strap included with mine, either, but I read it as something you need to buy separately. I wouldn't use it though, because if we fly with it, I'll just plop it in our stroller which we will gate check. Call sunshine kids and ask them if you have time. You can carry it by the red strap only, not the harness straps.

Nope, no shoulder strap. However, carrying it by the harness straps is allowed. I am small, so I just loosened the harness straps and pulled the slack through the back and put it over my shoulder. It was heavy, but no as heavy as DD. LOL. I was also 6 weeks pg at the time. It does fit GREAT in our stroller (except DD was sick and sleeping in the stroller that time!) and the bag that I got a month after the trip is REALLY nice- so next time I will use that IF I'm not placing it in the stroller. My friend also has a Radian and she borrowed my bag recently and said it worked great!

I'll probably use the bag when I take mine anywhere, it seems really nice :). I think the picture on www.skjp.com and the box just shows the mom carrying it in her hand, no strap at all.

Just so you know, the new manual does not allow carrying of the seat by the harness straps anymore. Carrying by the red strap, plastic shell or the luggage like shoulder strap attached to some webbing on the side of the seat is allowed on the newer seats.

Why do they have to change so many things about seats in such short amounts of time?!?!?!?!
