Have you all heard of the Mia Moda Viva infant carseat? Apparently it is sold in the U.S. and meets U.S. standards. I have never heard of it. Have any of you?

I do like the looks of some of the Mia Moda strollers! I've never seen them in person, but I like the looks of them on the website!

Never heard of them, but the strollers do look neat! I'm wondering though, how the carseats meet US standards...I don't see a chest clip!

Ok, some of those strollers are cute (especially the Energi), but some of them just make me think of a Higher end Graco. Call me crazy, but that was my first impression.

But, no I have never ever heard of that company. I am going to search the YahooGroups StrollerSwap to see if there have been any posts regarding this company...

US seats are not required to have chest clips. US manufacturers have added them to help keep the straps on a child's shoulders instead of making the straps so they would stay on themselves. If everyone tightened their harnesses tight enough, we wouldn't actually need them. Most european seats do not have them, their slots are designed so the straps are close enough that they are not needed.

There was one infant seat that did not require the chest clip. I think it was the old fisher price.

Oooh okay! I wondered why all of the Eurpean seats I've seen didn't have them. I just thought they were required here and I thought they helped in a crash, but it absolutely makes sense that if the straps are tight enough anyway, a chest clip shouldn't really be needed.

No, you're not crazy. Lately, Graco's been designing their seats to look more European. Their Toddler Safe-seat is extremely similar to the Maxi-Cosi Priori (not the XP version with the tightening lever).

Hi everyone,

I'm posting as I saw your discussion about the Mia Moda Vivia Car Seat. I'm a representative from Mia Moda and I wanted to address your question!

Dillipop is correct, US seats are not required to have chest clips. But, our seat will have an easy to use two-peice chest clip. The picture on the website was taken without it.

Mia Moda is a new company, we design an exclusive line of high-fashion baby strollers, travel systems, and soon, other products as well. You can find our products in US specialty stores beginning this month.

We have also recently been awarded JPMA safety certification for our stroller products.

We're so glad that there's an interest out there in our products! If you have any questions about any of Mia Moda's products, please feel free to use the contact form on our website! You can find it here:

Thanks!!!

The page that shows the fabric options shows a chest clip. It also goes to 22 lbs, a strange weight limit for UK seats, seats there max out RF at 9 kg, this one goes to 9.97 kg.

I'm guessing this is a seat that will be new on the market in upcoming months. Strange, it hasnt been in SafeRiderNews (well i havent seen the newest edition yet.) generally they announce seats months before they are shown on the net.

Opps, i didnt see the above post when i edited!

I LOVE the looks of some of these products! The Chocolate pattern on the carseat is pretty. The Surfer print looks cute too (it just looks black in the pictures- like Britax's Onyx, but the thumbnail pattern swatch shows a stick figure surfer).

I'd love to see these in person.
