Do I have to use the tethers that attach to an anchor point in your car. My car is not fitted with anchor points.

Seats do pass minimal safety standards with just a seatbelt, and almost all cars can be retrofitted with top tether anchors. So no, you don't need them, but tell us the make and model and year of your car and we can probably help you get the part numbers to tell the dealer what it is you need

Important note: several manufacturers will install at least one anchor point for free and the ones that charge it's typically a small charge (<$100) or you can buy the part (~$20) and install it yourself.
