Compass B500 Question

I know people say it doesn't work well for most children. What sizes of kids are you talking about here? At first I thought S was a fluke when it fit her well (before outgrowing it, about 60 lbs and 4'6"). Then I thought maybe Z was another fluke and her and S were just built the same way when I tried her the other day (stats in signature). Z fit better in it than in the Turbo in my opinion. But yesterday I drove another girl who is about 4' and 50 or so pounds and she fit well, too. Is it my car maybe? I have yet to put a child in it who doesn't fit well.

i think you hit the nail on the head. It was outgrown way early. I don't think the seat is disliked for not fitting well, but because it only fits well for a short time, and the kids it does fit well, are smaller and should possibly be harnessed anyway, and it wont get them to car seat belt, and MOST parents arent going to run out and buy ANOTHER booster, so the kid ends up riding in a poor-fitting booster after it is outgrown. It's also wide, so some parents feel like their narrow kids are dwarfed in it.

Well, *I* dislike it for not fitting well. Admittedly my real-life selection sample is small (6 or less) but of the real-life kids I've seen it who have been of varying builds, weights, heights and in various autos, I've never seen one even approaching a safe fit. In every instance, the lap belt was simply too high up on the belly.

I guess I am in the minority. I just got rid of my monterey and we are going back to the compass because its a way better fit for my dd. But that said, it's not going to be her last booster....she will go to an Oobr soon.
