I just saw a wanted post for a toddler seat for a one year old. So, I am guessing they are wanting to ff the baby.

I am super tired, 4 hours of sleep today and have taken a sleeping pill so I sleep better tonight but have not gone to bed yet. Worried I won't be able to make sense and then they won't listen to me.

Any idea of what to say to them and what would be the perfect link to send. I am guessing they are just going by law and don't realize there is a better option and I am hoping they are receptive.

Please help me with the email I should send them.

Thanks!

I send youtube videos of the crash testing for both seating positions as well as the many true and sad stories about children in harnessed boosters dying because they were really too young/fragile for it.
Perhaps her seat is expired and that is why they say a toddler seat?

You could send her the definition of a toddler, lol.
A TODDLER really doesn't qualify as a one year old.

I've begun to hate Freecycle lately for this reason:
All children's products are in bad shape, expired, or not properly used.

I'd tell her to just go buy a damn seat. She is putting her child at risk not knowing where the heck that seat she'll end up with has been.
Amazingly, most parents don't know seats expire or are no good after an accident. Or parents give away old shield seats that just don't offer good protection.

I just tell them that the new recommendation is to rf to age 2 because it is 5 times safer. Then I tell them about convertible seats, the scenera, and safe kids.

Also keep in mind that most people don't know the "proper" names for seats, so some people use "toddler seat" to refer to "not a bucket" or "one of those things that goes backwards and forwards."

So for them, "toddler seat" COULD=convertible.

Probably not. But maybe.

Thanks, I posted a link to Joel's site and to the used car seat check list and also mentioned extended rear facing, expired car seats, and used car seats. Now to see if I get a mean email back, nothing, or someone who will actually be interested in more info.

Do you know if ther is a local carseat tech/fitting station? I am a tech and email anyone looking for a used carseat the check list from www.cpsafety.com. Also, info about getting a seat checked. And tell them if they don't have funds for a new seat to call the carseat phone which I answer.

No we sure don't. The CHP is supposed to have someone, but it seems like she is never there and she did not return messages I left for her.

We rarely have CHP check events where they will give you a seat if yours does not pass. I mean very rarely, the last one was 2 1/2 years ago. That is the link I sent about used car seats. I just wish I could have given more info to help out, but in such a small city, there are just no resources

Thanks!
