height limits

Hi All,

I am looking for a second seat for Grandma's car. Price is a consideration but we also want it to last. My baby is currently 9 mo old and in the 98% for height. We are looking for a good convertible seat with lots of room for height. Does anyone know the RFing height restrictions for the following seats.
•Safety 1st Avenue
•The Cosco Scenera
•First Years TrueFit
•Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX

Also, what is the difference between the Evenflo Triumph Advance Premier, DLX and LX?

Any others I should consider? I know the Radians but they seem more expensive. We got a Marathon for our car.

Thanks
Leah

A rear facing seat is outgrown by height when there is less than one inch of seat shell above the child's head. Most seats will list a standing height limit, but because children can carry their height very differently, you can have three children the exact same overall height and one will have outgrown the seat, one will have tons of room and one will be somewhere in the middle.

Of the seats you have listed, the TrueFit has the tallest shell, then the Triumph Advance, the Avenue, and the Scenera.

The difference among the Triumph Advances is the trimmings. Some have nicer covers; one (the Premier, I think) has nicer LATCH connectors. All have the same dimensions and functions.

I'd also toss the Graco MyRide65 into the mix for consideration.

Sorry I guess I didn't word that question correctly.

Of those, which have the tallest shells and how do those compare to the Marathon (taller or shorter)?
I know my baby will fit now but given he is in the 98% for height I just wanna make sure I get something tall enough.

So how does the True Fit work. That is the one with the removable head rest, right? Does it have to be removed while RFing or is that only an option in the case of a small car?
What is the shell measurement with the headrest off, on?
Has there been any report of the headreast coming apart from the carseat during a crash?

Thanks
Leah
