My boyfriend, who is not even my child's biological father, has become quite concerned with all aspects of baby, toddler, and child raising lately.
Yesterday, he came home from school with a story that everyone will appreciate and completely blew me away.
He goes to school for auto mechanics. While working on a classmates vehicle, he noticed that the guy had installed his child's carseat completely wrong. He mentioned it to the guy, but the guy didn't even care! So he proceeded to give him a good lengthy lecture about child safety concerning vehicles and seats. He then removed the carseat and made the guy watch as he installed it correctly for him. To snug it down, he got INTO the seat and had another buddy tighten down the LATCH straps!
We just bought a MyRide, so he recognized the seat and during this whole scene, he turned the FFing carseat back to a RFing position (the classmate's child just turned 1.) He then showed his buddy the importance of a proper strap adjustment and showed him exactly how to do it.
He took a picture and sent it to me as proof.
I was completely amazed. He had listened to every lecture I ever fed him about carseat safety and was able to do it correctly when the time arose. Things I hadn't even told him about, like the feet underneath the MyRide, he figured out by reading the stickers on the seat. Also choosing to go the latch method instead of the belt? Wow.
I can rest assured my kiddo will be safe with this guy!
Kudos to Mr. Mom's everywhere!
