Someone was telling me the other day how the seats in harnessed school busses are not designed to sustain crash forces from two directions, therefore if a non-harnessed person was riding in the seat directly behind a harnessed child, the crash forces of the child pulling forward on the seat and the person behind hitting the seat would cause the seat to collapse. I was told that some busses have specially reinforced seats so that this does not happen. Does anyone know which busses are reinforced and which are not? Our center has a 14-passenger bus made by Collins and I would like to know whether or not the seats are reinforced (I really need to just ask my boss for the manual) so I know whether we need to keep non-harnessed people in front. Thus far I've been trying to do so when I'm on the field trip but there are a lot of trips I don't go on and if I had some concrete information I could give my boss and the people who drive the bus, they might do so on other trips.
Thanks!
