What's the most affordable seat for a kid with low tone?

My SIL is adopting a little girl from eastern Europe. We aren't too sure about her medical history, but she does have disabilities, and we think she may have low tone.

She is 5, but small. I'm looking for a FF seat that is supportive and will last a while. She said she'd like to spend less than $200.

ETA: They have a Mazda 5 and a PT cruiser, both several years old, but I'm not sure what year exactly.

I would say MR, but I don't know what you mean by small. Does she have any idea the weight/height?

MR is very reclined, very supported, has decent top slots and a 65lb weight limit, and is only about $150.

yeah, I guess that was a bit vague, huh?

I talked to SIL and she says she's about the size of a two year old...maybe 25-30lbs? I thinkthe Myride sounds good. It looks really reclined. Can you make it more upright if she ends up not really needing it? Or does the recline bother older kids?

I know she is 5 but at her size sounds like she could still ride rear facing. I would talk to her about it. A rear facing seat would be a good bet for a child with low tone.

I like our Como for my lower tone (not SN) 2.5 yr old, he's "big" for his age, and it fits him well both RF and FF with lots of support and pretty good recline FF.

I concur with the MyRide. Cheap (especially if you find a 15% off coupon at BRU), will RF her for a long time and then give good support FF, etc.

Thanks for posting -- did I miss the carseat coupon? I only see one for boosters that specifically excludes infant and convertible seats.

They got their travel date today and they are leaving next week!

They'll be there for a month and bring her home. I told her I would take care of the carseat for her while they are gone.

She is really tiny. Here's a video of her taken by another couple when they were there adopting.

Think she looks big enough to forward face? SIL said if she wasn't 20 lbs, she would RF (thanks goodness!) but we really won't get an exact weight until right before they come home, which might be too late if I decide on something that has to be ordered online.

I'm leaning towards the Myride....WDYT?

It appears that her tone is somewhat good since she's able to sit upright on the bench without support. Is there any way they can weigh and measure her when they get there? (That is, if there's a scale).
She definitely *looks* like she weighs less than 35lbs and could rear-face, but if your SIL refuses to rear-face past 20-25lbs, then it might make sense to get a seat that has FFing harness slots that are higher than the MR65.
Really, it's a toss-up. I think she's fit in any seat you got for her. The MR65 is a great seat and I think they'd definitely get use out of it for a while.

(Ps: She's absolutely adorable. What a sweet, sweet little girl)

I have nothing to add besides to say that she is ADORABLE! And best of luck to your SIL! My cousins adopted 2 boys from Khazakstan who were also very small for their age and developmentally delayed... the month away can be hard, but it was a great bonding experience from them, and my cousin still raves about how the month-long period helped them to get a better understanding of the situation the boys WERE in, so that when they transitioned to different situations, they knew what the differences were (make sense?).
