is this worth it?

the cover on our scenera is getting really thin at the top. It seems like it could rip open at any day. Of course it might just be fading that makes it look so thin. I'm fairly annoyed about this because it's just our travel and second seat. Get's used about 5 trips a MONTH yet the cover doesn't seem it will last the life of the seat.

Anyway, I called Dorel and they said that it would be 23.80 for a new cover. The seat has a DOM of 3/07 so it has many years left.

Would you a) sell this seat for $20 and buy a new one b) Get the cover.

I figure, we bought the seat for around $40 and got 2 years of use out of it so $20 a year, much less than renting one when traveling. My oldest child will outgrow the seat any day now. His torso height is 14 inches, the harness slot is 14.5 My youngest's torso height is 12 inches so she still has probably 1.5-2 years. I can get that much more use out of it for $23.80. Or I could sell it and buy something with a higher harness height (maybe a Chase booster for ds)

I would sell and get a new carseat.

I had two scenera (blue cover) both DOM of 2005 which we use everyday for 3 yrs. Both our covers were thin at the top since new but did not look like it would tear. We hand wash the covers many times too.

Seems weird that the cover should get thinner at the top.

uuuhhhh.
option C just use the seat with a faded, thin cover.
If it seemed like it was a particular place that was thinning due to rubbing or whatever, I might put a small patch there. If it was just allover thin..well..ya. It's a scenera. lol.

I second Option C. Sounds great to me!!

I would be hard pressed to sell someone a seat with a cover that I won't use myself. If YOU don't want the warn cover why would someone else?

I agree. The more I thought about it, I don't feel comfortable selling it. I will just wait and use it until it/the cover dies. And I am thinking that maybe it's not really thinner there, just the fade from the sun makes it look thinner.
