OHS Car Seats

Hi i saw a listing on criags list for a car seat, it was an overhead shield seat...i messaged her saying she cant sell it, they dont make those anymore, and its also expired and unsafe to use because of the shield.
she messaged me back saying the seat was only a year old...

they cant be possible, right?

Yes, it's absolutely possible. They are still being sold. 5-point harnesses are preferable, but OHS seats pass the tests and are therefore not UNsafe. Unfortunately, I think you've just lost a lot of credibility with this particular person.

While it's not ideal and not as safe as a 5 point harness, when used correctly(*cough* that's the key) it is still safe and passes testing.

I do believe they JUST stopped making the Scenera OHS seat this year (or last year) and I think Evenflo might still make one.

So its quite possible this seat isn't expired or unsafe.

Cosco OHS was discontinued in 2008 and Yes Evenflo is still making OHS.

I'm pretty sure all companies stopped making them last year. They are still selling the stock they had of them, because (like PP said) they are not unsafe.

We still carry them at Baby Depot. For some odd reason, we don't get many in though...hmmm.

Yep, they're definitely still on the market. No point arguing with her further because she probably won't believe anything you say going forward. Also, they ARE safe when used correctly. Sometimes they're even preferable (like for a grandparent that lacks the dexterity to do the buckle, or my SIL who refuses to do so).
