it just seems like every car seat out there has one really great feature and then sort of skimps on the rest. Like the new Complete Air-it only has padding behind the head-no where else! My dd doesn't sit in the middle since we don't have a middle seat, so EPS around more than just her head is important to me. I have been obsessing over finding a new seat for my 4.5 yr. old 34lb. dd and it seems like every seat I find is lacking something! Its so frustrating. I LOVED the My Ride 65, but we have GMC Yukon and the seat sits so high I can barely get her in (I'm only 5'1")! The True Fit seemed nice until I got her in it, and its just too wide on the inside for my tastes. I feel like if we got hit on the side, her head has way too much room to bang around. The Graco Nautilus pushed her head forward to the point that she was uncomfortable. I really LOVED the Recaro Young Sport (love their deep head wings), but the harness only goes to 40lbs(I can't spend $250 every year on a new seat), and even though the harness on the Recaro Signo goes to 70lbs, we have the issue with a really high base again!! Anyone know of a low sitting car seat with deep head wings, EPS foam, and high harness weight???
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi, I moved this to a thread of its own because it would probably get buried in the multiple pages long Safety 1st Complete Air thread. If you're considering forward facing only seats for her, have you tried a Britax Frontier by any chance?

You probably already know this, but EPS is not "padding". It is the white styrofoam-looking stuff.

Radians sit low, have lots of EPS, and the XT has decent wings.

Sounds like the Radian to me. But are we sure yet that the Air Protect doesn't have EPS foam? I haven't checked that thread in a few days, so maybe someone has found out, but I really would bet on it having foam.

EPS (Dorel uses EPP typically, which is black and 'bouncier' than EPS, but they are both the same, safety-wise), is only required for head protection. The seats that have headwings that move with the harness, therefore, only have it in the head area (Alpha Omega Elite, Complete Air, Boulevard). Seats that have no headwings, or independent wings, like the Radian XT, have the EPS lining the shell of the seat, not for body protection, but so that there's foam around the little infants' heads. Seats that use a lot of extra foam in weird places (like by the thighs on the Evenflo Triumph Advance)? I don't know what they are thinking...seems pretty gimmicky to me, and just one more thing to break and cause their customer service people a headache replacing :twocents::rolleyes:

Really, don't let the lack of foam in the body of the seat turn you off a seat. And the rule still applies: the seat that fits your car, your child, and your budget, and that you use properly on every single trip, is THE safest seat you can buy (I've seen some Britaxes so heinously misused, I don't know why people waste their money )
