Which infant seats to consider?

So, some dear friends have asked for advice on which infant seat(s) they should consider. I believe they prefer a "true" infant seat for now, rather than convertible. Unfortunately it's been so long since I was in the infant seat market that I know I'm not up to date, lol!

So, what should I recommend they look at?

Chicco Keyfit and Keyfit 30 are great they fit newborns well. Graco Safeseat and SnugRide 32. Those are the favorites around here I'm sure others will chime in with better info.

I really love my Safeseat(now the Snugride 32). Easy to install, easy to use. It is heavy, but we don't take it out of the car very much.

Yup, I was going to say the Snugride 32 and the Chicco Keyfit. I think the Keyfit 30 you can buy, the 22 comes in a travel system only.

I have a Graco safe seat that I love! I had a regular snug ride with my first and she outgrew it at 4 months so I went with the larger safe seat for my second and it was nice having an infant seat that could last until at least the first birthday

I'd say Keyfit, SR32, Combi Shuttle, and possibly Safety 1st OnBoard 35 are the ones I'd consider were I in the market.

Thanks y'all!!!

I guess I'm not as "out of touch" as I'd have thought - the KeyFit was the first thing to come to my mind! So, at least I knew one good option!

I have the SafeSeat 1 (replaced by the Snugride 32) as mentioned and I really like it. My only comment is that it is a big seat for smaller newborns. DD is 7lbs and I have to use a rolled cloth diaper between her and the crotch strap for now. I honestly don't mind though since ds and dd1 both outgrew my old Snugride before 1 year and I can tell there is no way DD2 will out grow this seat before her first birthday. My old Snugride was 8lbs and some change and this seat is 9lbs something so not a huge difference. It is a wide seat if you need to do a 3 across which I assume they don't. Hope that helps.

I used the Graco SafeSeat because I had seen too many children at 6 months who were already 20#. I wanted this for sure to last to the first birthday. My 18mo DD still fit in the seat no problem. She was 6#12oz and 19.5" at birth and had no issues with fit bringing her home from the hospital. Straps were able to get nice and tight, still padded around her, but otherwise fit was great. (Nurse had them toooo tight!) I stopped carrying the seat itself around about 6 months, but by then DD was able to sit no problem in grocery carts (with the chest strap/seatbelt).
