Have you all seen this article from Time.com? It is about seatbelt use and is quite interesting. I am curious to hear what others have to say...

Well, I HATE the title. Why do reporters always have to go for shock value?

Otherwise it's an interesting article. Although I haven't noticed that people who wear seat belts seem to take more risks. It seems the risk takers don't bother to wear seat belts. Then again it's been awhile since I've been in a car with anyone who would be considered a risk taker.

My SO was chief resident in a NYC ER: says that led him to believe the people who have & use more safety features tend to abuse them (especially during inclement weather, sort of like magical thinking) ~ which is not to say that safety features are at fault -- DRIVER! -- but, he also says it's the older people & young children who were in for the most serious injuries most frequently.... Although, yeah, the ones I've actually witness not use seatbelts are the idiots who don't have any reduction in risk to begin with yet drive in a downright stupid fashion & seem to invite paralysis/death upon themselves
