Special needs seat question

My best friend has her son in a Graco NA but he keeps undoing the chest clip. He is special needs so its not like he understands to not do it. My question is - Is there a seat that he can't undo or a chip for children like him?

How old is he? and how much does he weigh?

The chest clip is a pre-crash positioner, not a crash device. It's simply designed to keep the harness in the correct position BEFORE an impact. As long as the harness is tightened all the way, coming out of the shell at the correct point and positioned correctly on the shoulders, it's not going to affect the performance if the clip is unbuckled in a crash.

It is, however, a parental discipline issue, and being special needs doesn't necessarily mean he can't learn that he mustn't touch the clip.

If it's in her budget, she might try a different seat if the velcro trick doesn't work. Some are more difficult to undo than others (and the Nautilus clip is pretty easy.)

There are also vests but try the other solutions first, as the vests are more of a pain to use and it doesn't sound like they're at the point of last resort yet.
