Question about replacing car seat straps

I read on a mommy forum today that you should replace your harness straps once a year. I've never heard that before, it is true? Or do you just have to check them for wear and tear? :confused:

No, there's no reason to replace harness straps unless there's visible wear and tear (damage, fraying), or if they were not cared for properly, such as if they were soaked with water. If any of those things happen, you should replace them immediately.

Harness straps expire when the rest of the seat expires, 5-8 years after first manufacture. Check your manual for the exact expiration.

You should inspect them every so often, but unless they are showing wear and tear, or have been washed/dried or had chemicals on them, you don't need to replace them unless you want to do so.

DD spilled HONEY on hers a while back and it was seriously tempting to just order a new harness then. :p
