How much taller is true fit than my ride 65

cause I just got mine and used it, and Fiona looks a lot taller in it than I remember her being, it looks like only 2 inches but I didn't measure yet... It was 4 I thought when she tried it before I ordered.. she is only 31 lbs.. but 38 inches tall.

should I exchange?

 I think you should let me take a look first. ROFL!

Just kidding.

You DID install it and try her in it installed, right? A number of people have reported that there's alot more height in it installed than just tried out on the floor.

yep it is installed.. I will totally let you look at it first.. I know we are at the very home stretch of her rear facing days because she is tall.. but I want to make it a little longer... then I worry she will out grow it ffing too soon too.. maybe I should try to trade it for a true fit.

The True Fit is probably about 3" taller in the shell than the MR65. That's a guess. I measured the shell of the TF at 27" (or was it 28"? 27" I think). DD is about 40" tall and has several inches above her head in the TF (see my sig pic) but when I tried her at BRU in the MR65 yesterday, she was at the top. However, it was NOT installed when I tried it and it had the infant insert, so my guess is that she'd have about an inch left in that seat.

If height is your concern, I'd go for the True Fit, personally. It has the tallest shell of any convertible on the market. It could take your child a while to gain 4lbs. Of course, growth spurts can't accurately be predicted, so....? I don't know. Sorry, I may not have helped as much as I was trying to.

My 40 inch 2.3 year-old son is RF in a TF. He has plenty of room above his head. He has outgrown the MA RF by height already (he only weighs 31.5 lbs.). I'm pretty sure he has outgrown the MR by height as well, though I have yet to try him in one.

I think I am going to keep it.. (seeing as she already got crayon on it lol) I still have her radian 80 that she can rear face in for height.. maybe she will just use that once she is height wise out of the mr65 and then I have it for my son who is a good deal chunkier than she ever was. lol I am going to give her his marathon when I have to ff her so he will go into the my ride then..

I keep forgetting that I don't get a good install in my minivan with the true fit, as much as I love them

That makes sense, sounds like a good plan.

I am actually trying to decide between these two carseats for my son. He is 7 months, 16.5 lbs and 28in. I need the seat that will get him to rear-face the longest. I am leaning towards the MR65 because of the 40lb rear-facing limit, but if he is not going to reach that by height anyway, I would gladly go with the TF as they both harness to 65lbs. I just don't know which one would work. I need to know which will rear-face longest by height- I know TF is supposed to be the tallest shell, but I also remember reading that you cannot RF with the headrest on, therefore shortening the height. Am completely wacky? Thanks for any suggestions!

You probably just misread something. YOu have to have the headrest on for rear facing once the child is 22 pounds and/or is at the 1 inch mark on the shell. Some people have had a difficult time adding the headrest in a smaller backseat, but making the seat more upright helps. It can be as upright as 35 degrees for the truefit. I hope this helps.
