Earlier this month there was an accident involving a car and a train. Apparently it was at a crossing where there are no arms (gates), and a train struck a car carrying 2 children (ages 11 and 7), and the driver (grandma). The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the 11 year old was treated at our local hospital and released the same day, the 7 year old was air lifted to a hospital in a larger city to the ICU unit.
Both the 11 and 7 year olds were riding in the front seat together, neither of them were wearing a seat belt. The 7 year old is on the same cheer team as my niece, and the girl is a teeny tiny little thing.
Very, very sad situation.
