SG Go or RSTV

Well?

I can't use the SG primary... I mean, I can, and I would, but... it just... I can't. I can't bring myself to make it a primary seat. But I want one. I waaaaaant one! But, I kinda want a RSTV as well.

Either one I would want to use in the center of my dad's truck as well. SG he might not have enough head support, RSTV he certainly should. SG might be more user friendly for my dad, but I think I can teach him how to use the vest safely. Now, whether Charlie will use the vest without freaking out is another matter entirely...

Really, he doesn't have a whole lot of room left in the SG, so why bother buying one? Right?

I will NOT buy an XT. I won't. So there.

I loooove my RSTV-- and I just bought a GO.

I'm no help, I'm sure.

Except to tell you that my daughter, who has sensory issues, loves her vest SO MUCH and asks to wear it even when we're not in the car. It focuses and grounds her and her behavior is much better when wearing it. Not sure if Charlie is at all sensory, but just sayin'...

Is it easy? I mean, I know it's not easy... but how long should it take? How frustrated would my dad get? How easy is it to screw up?

I just HATE that my dad has this truck. Sure, I could forbid he ever take Charlie somewhere, or I could make him trade with me, or borrow Eunice's car... but my dad wants to drive his truck and Charlie wants in his truck. I can install anything in the center that fits... I can get the MA ROCK in there with the center belt. WAY better than in my car! But there's very little growing room left for him in that, and it really crunches my dad, and I just hate that airbag! If I put him on the side (where I cannot install a MA), then he's directly in front of the airbag, even if it is pushed all the way back (and it'll go back pretty far). In the center, the manual says that the child *should* be *mostly* out of reach of the airbag.

Lap belt or shoulder belt?

With lap belt and tether, I'd say it takes about 2 times as long as a harness. Not hard at all, really. And it's easier to leave partly installed.

With shoulder belt, it's about 3-4 times as long, and harder to leave partly installed in the car.

Get both?

I have both. The Go is for travel when we visit for a couple of weeks and doing the vest every time would be a pain, and my ILs will have trouble doing the vest. The Vest is for when we don't need a carseat every day or getting mostly cabs, and to do 3 across in my car. The Go is not going to work in my parents car because of lower seat backs, but we're not visiting for another 18 months and DS will be 6 and I'm hoping 40lbs, so I can use the new Parkway with the anti-submarine clip.

If there isn't enough torso height in the GO, then it's not worth getting it, unless you plan to use it again for the baby when they are no longer rear-facing. DS loves his vest - I got it here on swap, so I didn't feel bad having both as together cost about what the Go would go for at full price.

It's a lap shoulder. Rats. Yeah, it's gonna be too hard for him.

I think my only option is a Radian. I SOLD a NIB Radian because I hated it so much... now I'm gonna have to get another? Oh well.

It's not that hard, really. It's just... time-consuming.

Unfortunately, my dad is not a big fan of...time-consuming.
I suppose I could just buy it for myself and then figure something out for his car. Hmmm.... or Elite Car Seats with $5 shipping return and if I hate it, buhbye RSTV.

In Florida? with that HEAT and HUMIDITY? I wouldn't even consider a RSTV - they add heat, they hold heat.

I'd get the GO.
