"The risk reduction provided by booster seats in side-impact crashes varied by booster seat type: 4-to 8-year-olds riding in high back booster seats were at a 70 percent reduction in injury risk, while those in backless boosters did not experience a statistically significant risk reduction as compared with seat belts alone"

That's what I thought.

The term Side Impact Proteciton gets more diluted each and everyday. It won't be long before we see Dorel advertising the Scenera as having SIP because afterall, it has a shell.

It's not false advertising. Since 'side impact protection' is NOT a regulated term, it's meaningless.

We understand "SIP" to mean 5 point harness, deep wings or shell, and EPS foam, but since there's no regulation about how the term may be applied or what it means, anyone can use it, for the time being, although the push is for that to change.
