Got my new Regent from HipMonkey today with an Awesome DOM!

I am so excited my DS new Sahara Regent came today, it had been on backorder from HipMonkey since May 5th.

Anyways it has a great DOM of June 1, 2009!!!

I am so excited!! Just had to share!

Great DOM!!!! I thought they were discontinued, but that's an awfully recent DOM to a discontinued seat!!!

I know we all decided the Regent was discontinued because someone heard that from Britax (or something--I don't remember the circumstances). But has this actually been confirmed? I did a search a while back and couldn't find where Sarah Tilton ever said that was the case.

My coalition leader talked to her (at Lifesavers, I think), and supposedly Sarah said that they are not discontinued. They won't be available in (many? any?) stores, but they're not discontinued.

If they're still manufacturing them as of two weeks ago, that doesn't sound to me like they're just selling off the existing stock...

There was a thread where Sarah Tilton did say they made the decision to discontinue.........off to search.

The Sahara cover isn't new since it has the labels over the original label on the cover for that last recall. I think they are continuing to manufacture the Regent shell until the covers run out.

Hipmonkey just got the order shipped to them & they are getting the last of the madison covers according to the website, so I bet Hipmonkey will continue to have the newest DOM available for the regent!!!

I have never gotten such a fresh off the line car seat before!!! LOL

I don't see anywhere in that thread where Sarah Tilton said that (or anything, for that matter). There were a lot of people in that thread referring to another thread where she said they are not discontinuing them.

Also, that thread was from February, and Lifesavers was in April. I know it's total hearsay on my part, but my coalition leader did say that at Lifesavers, Sarah still claimed that they were not discontinued.

Just for the record, Britax typically doesn't maintain old stock. Normally, they will make a seat until the covers run out. The email states that Onyx covers are gone and they are "depleting" their Huntington covers (I take that to mean they are ordering no more), but that they have a "very adequate supply" of Sahara. The exact wording is, "As you can tell from sales at your store level, the Regent sales have been deeply impacted by the success of the Frontier and we will be looking to discontinue the Regent by the end of 2009." So, essentially, when the covers run out, the seat is gone.

Maybe they meant that they're discontinuing the Regent to that store? Or maybe they really are discontinued, but still have enough covers left that they're still currently making the seats until the covers are gone.

I don't know.

I'm just saying that supposedly Sarah Tilton is still contending (or was, as of April), that they are not discontinued.
