Weird true fit issue

I keep forgetting to post this. A couple of weeks ago I was helping a friend install her true fit in a pontiac montana. We were getting it in tight, but we couldn't get the lock off to close. We worked on it a long time before figuring out the problem. On a lot of seatbelts (I have no idea how many) there is a little "button" that prevents the latchplate from sliding down all the way. When we got the seat as tight as we needed it, this button was right in the middle of the lockoff, preventing it from closing. I tried to tighten it so that the button would pass it, but I couldn't get it that tight. If I loosened it, it was too loose. We eventually moved it to the other side and it worked fine. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

Not sure about the True Fit, but it's very common on other seats with lockoffs. Carseat.org (the link in my siggy) has an entry in the technical encyclopedia about popping the button off with a butterknife if needed.

Ok, thanks. This was her parents vehicle, so we just moved it to another position. I will tell her about popping it off if she needs to.

We have had a problem in my sister's Pacifica when installing the SafeSeat 1 without the base.

I know of someone who had the same problem, she never thought about taking the button off, she went with a different seat but really liked the True Fit.
