I haven't noticed something in FAO before that gets me upset

They don't normally do kids in carseat shots, at least not that I've seen. But this one got me upset.

It's "Carsey" the toy horse. Attach him to the strap of the carseat and off you go. The picture has a young child, 18 months maybe, in a Britax, FFing (not in the car, but not in the recline setting) and lacking HUGS on her loose harness. I know that they're not IN a car, but 1) they shouldn't be selling that anyway and 2) they're showing bad practice, even without the toy there.

Cute toy, I could see having one if it wasn't attached, but ugh.

I agree with you about the FF seat and loose harness (and the toy!). Yikes. :(

But, about the missing HUGS: Isn't that seat a Roundabout? It looks like a Roundabout with the Gray Microdot cover. If it is a Roundabout, it wouldn't have HUGS. The push-button harness adjuster and the cover make me think it is a Roundabout. I could be wrong, though.

You're right. I didn't know that at all. I thought it was a RA as well, just from the size of it. I didn't realize, though, they didn't have HUGS at all. That's the second thing about a RA I've learned in the last week. LOL

Nope, you nailed it! That's exactly what it is! Another give away is the different style chest clip. It's different from the MA, or at least it was.

I'd check my RA, but I let one of my daycare families borrow it after mom totalled her van with her dd's seat in it...they were going to use it in another car! So I loaned them my RA, even though I don't normally loan out my seats.

I kept looking at the picture, and although the harness straps on that RA are loose enough for the toddler to pull her one shoulder forward, it's not really blatantly loose like the Sears commercial for example.

Regarding RF, you might assume that because it's an ad for the toy itself, they were trying to show the toy, and a full-on shot was a better choice form that perspective. Of course, the RA does FF, and although that child looked to be about 18 months, you don't know for sure, and same for weight.

I just got a catalogue from Graco, an of all the pictures of babies/kids in their carseats, all of them looked "properly" restrained. Harnesses snug, chest clips in the right spot. But they are selling carseats, so they did their homework.

I suppose that Britax might want to know that their seats are being used in advertising with some "boo-boos" and be more involved in ok-ing their products for such use.
