My-Ride RF in truck

My 26 month-old ds is getting close to the weight limit on our 33lb MA. It is in dh's 2006 extended cab Silverado (he rides in this car maybe 2-3times a month) . The back window is right up against the rear bench that the seat is installed on. We currently have the MA RF tethered but are unsure of what seat next. I'm not entirely comfortable letting a rear facing seat with a big 2 year-old rebound into the rear glass (thinking of the My Ride), but I'm not comfortable forward facing him either.

Are my concerns valid, and any suggestions if so?

The actual design of the MyRide I think in itself reduces 'cocooning'. I'm just theorizing, mind you, not speaking from a position of any authority.

The base of this seat is deep and gargantuan. From the side it looks like the 'base' on an infant seat. I wouldn't be surprised if the design is deliberate, both to reduce cocooning and downward rotation for a heavier child.

I would feel fine with a RF MR65 in a truck. However, if you are uncomfortable with it, turning a 2 year old FF is not a terrible thing either.
