Public transportation

I was thinking of taking my 7 children ages 2 - 12 on a commuter high speed train this summer. Due to the fact of my children I have never been on one, but I am guessing there are no seatbelts or other options for restraining children. If this is the case, I am guessing it would be better to just drive them in their carseats? At what age is it considered safe for children to travel in a high speed train? Thank you.

Actually, trains are, statistically speaking, safer than cars. I feel perfectly safe on public transport (buses, trains) most of the time and do not hesitate to take my children on from birth. :)
