Seat Belt Adjuster?

What are the thoughts about a product like this:

??? A friend of mine just bought one and my first thought was to tell her to take it back, but I wanted to get your take on it.

Her ds is 5yo and in a backless booster. She bought this to make the seatbelt fit him properly.

Your friend should find a booster (perhaps a high back model) that fits their child properly.

Thanks, that was what I thought, but didn't know the reasons! I shared the info with mom and I'm pretty sure she'll be buying a high back booster. I think we are going to go shopping together on Saturday to buy that and a new convertible for her 3yo dd who is using a 7yo seat.

Mention that in a crash, the chance of those snaps actually staying closed are about a million to none, so what good would it do then?

They showed such a gory case study of one of these at Lifesavers two years ago...the 4 yo sister sitting in the noback booster walked away from the completely totaled small sedan, while the 7 yo big brother suffered severe internal injuries and bad skin burns from his seatbelt adjuster (so much for the 'big boy' having the 'cool' Hot Wheels seatbelt thingie

).

These are illegal in California, because they affect the way the belt works, but no one bothers to enforce the law and there they are on shelves

They're illegal in Va too for the same reason (along with the Mighty Tite) but like you said, no one enforces it.
