Britax discontinued the parkway (and the monarch) just before they released the frontier. It hasn't really been available in over a year. They are supposed to be releasing another version of it, that will booster to 120 pounds soon, but no real details yet. I do love my parkway though.

I love my Parkway and hated to see it discontinued especially since the "new" Parkway has yet to appear. Sorry I know that doesn't help.

1. Why were they discontinued?
2. Where would one find a used one?
3. How do you know if a used one is safe if from a stranger?

Thanks,

1. There was some discussion of Britax's decision in the transcript of an online Britax CEU chat held here last year - the transcript is posted in the Articles forum at http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=64210. Britax wanted to focus on the Regent and Frontier in their product lineup in the interest of promoting extended harnessing as I understand it. Now they're apparently reassessing and discontinuing the Regent, and a new Parkway model is supposed to be coming out.

2. Parkways seem fairly scarce used but some turn up on Craigslist, eBay or occasionally in the dedicated Swap forum here at car-seat.org if you keep your eyes peeled for one. :)

3. It's a buyer beware scenario and you would have to be comfortable with the source of the used seat to trust that they're fully disclosing the seat's history, etc. The used carseat checklist at http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/usedseat.aspx can be helpful for screening a used seat.
