Monarch! The family came for a picnic/BBQ today and I was happily surprised. She is a big 5 yr old- 48" tall and 60 lbs.

I had never seen one up close, it looks really nice- too bad they are long gone. Unless someone here can find me a new one:whistle: I would get one in a heartbeat. I don't care about LATCH ablility because I don't have LATCH.

Can anyone FIND me a Monarch too-oo-ooo loo-ove?

when i started a thread about the Monarch a few weeks ago, people said "they were not generally loved, although they were not abhorred as some seats are...." (that's an actual quote!) I should have asked what that meant! why were people not in love with teh Monarch? I remember going to my local BBBaby when it was still current, and the salesman said it was THE seat to have. but i wasn't ready for DS to go to a booster yet.....in fact, what he said then was much like the schpeel he recently gave me about the Monterey, when i finally went in, ready for a booster.

I know some people here didn't like it backless, but I wouldn't use it backless, I'd buy an Olli when we get to that point. But, the seat looked very ergonomic and comfy for M. I really wish I had asked the mom to sit DD in it to test it out, but she doesn't know about my obsession, yet:p I tried the Monterey for DD awhile back, but the shoulder belt kept edging toward being an "off the shoulder" belt, and the lap portion fit was even worse (on her belly) So, I returned it. My DD isn't slender, but she's not stocky, either. She's "just right":p

Not abhorred...lol!

Really I think it just suffered from the Monterey being all the rage because it's LATCHable, and the PW being so much better for 3-across... it just couldn't find it's niche :(
