Question Two questions about the Graco Nautilus

I'm thinking that the Nautilus is a good choice as a backup seat for DH's car for our 33-pound, 41" 3.5 year DD. (He'd been wanting to use an old belt-positioning booster from my 13-year-old stepson, so that's going in the trash this week. I did have a discussion with him that if he wants to drive DD in his car, she needs to have a harnessed seat. Period.)

I had two questions for those of you who have worked with this seat:

1) Is the harness adjustable from the front of the seat?

2) Is the harness removable once the child outgrows the harness and uses it as a true booster?

Thanks so much... the information on this website is fantastic.

Yes, the harness has a very nice buttery smooth adjuster on the front of the seat. It makes adjusting it a breeze.

Yes, you can remove the harness once you will want to use it in booster mode.

You will love it. It is a great seat :) It sounds like a good option for your situation.

This seems like an odd question- what seat do you currently have for your DD? All current forward-facing seats that I know of can have the harness tightness adjusted (loosened and tightened) from the front, accessible while the seat is installed.

Do you mean, can you adjust the harness height from the front? If that's what you mean, then no- the seat needs to be removed to change the slots that the harness goes through as the child grows- for most children, this needs to be done about once a year.

The Treasured CarGo still adjusts from the back, doesn't it? Did they finally discontinue that one?

Otherwise, yes, I'm assuming the OP meant harness setting or harness height. :)

Sorry, Qarin, I was unclear! I did mean adjusting the harness fit, not the height. I don't mind deconstructing a car seat once in a blue moon (and it gives me a reason to wash the cover). I just wanted to make sure, since I thought about the issue when reading Baby Bargains' coverage... ;)

Incidentally, I did finally register. I'll be back here as "TeacherAmy" later. :)

You cannot adjust the harness position of the Nauti from the front, but the harness itself is removeable :)
