Aftermarket covers

ok, so as far as i know, absolutely no aftermarket covers are allowed. but i have a couple of local mamas who are telling me i am wrong, and that as long as the additional cover has no padding, and goes over the original, that theres no problem. i was also told this was confirmed with a rep a graco. i personally have never heard this, and am now trying to figure out if its true or false :D thanks!

(i think im getting a little rusty with my carseat facts lol)

eta: also, these covers will be handmade....not anything provided by graco or any other manuf.

All the manuals I have ever looked at state in some way or another, that nothing be used that did not come with the seat. That would include any cover that Graco, Britax, SK does not sell themselves.

ETA: Now that I check your posts, I see that you have been around lately. I don't think I have "seen" you much, so that is why I thought you hadn't been. Sorry! :eek:

They are wrong - the "extra" cover will not be treated with the flame resistent stuff - It will also void your warranty - it was also not tested on the seat during crash testing. Also, I don't think i have called CS at graco or britax and received a "correct" answer lately - It depends what rep you get and how educated they are - sad but true - Sometimes I have called 3 times about something and received 3 different answers:(
