::sigh:: Giving away my AOE

I'm kind of sad about it....I bought it for my godson when he was 9mths old, before I knew anything about car seats - nearly 5yrs ago. DS loves it and it's actually started to grow on me.

I saw a friend from church out with his 13mth old. I knew she was still in her Snugride in his car (big girl but all legs, she just barely fits and isn't over the weight limit) but she has an alpha aport in moms car. We were parked next to each other in the lot and I watched him snap her seat into the base....FF.

I've sent him all the info - 2 days before her birthday at that. I kept my mouth shut, but then called him a few minutes later because it hurt my stomach to think about it. I gently offered him my AOE and he said he'd take it. I do want to get a new cover for it, though. So we will be parting ways this Friday...

I wonder how DS will do with this, it's currently the only seat we have that RFs, and we won't be getting another one for at least a week.

How on earth do you even get the base installed backwards? I've had that seat and the thought just boggles my mind.

Like, standing upright? I mean, it would seem the belt would have to take some strange contortions to even get the thing in.

No, just turn the wrong way, FFing, and install.

Not very tightly then?

The thing flips around when tightly installed RF. I'm just wondering how on earth you would get the belt tight with it going the wrong way.

I've seen a FF infant seat, but just never one with the base used that way!

Thanks. I know it expires Dec 2012.

Do AOEs have 8 year expirations? That would be the only way a seat you bought 5 years ago could be good until '12....just wondering.

And, yes, I have totally seen people with a bucket base installed FFing....it's pretty scary. I remember 1 tech on here did a check where the people arrived with the SN installed FFing with the base, and the infant BUCKLED into the SN, sleeping on her stomach!!!!!!!! :eek: (Yes! face down!)

Holy cow! and yes, I am pretty sure that a lot of the AOE's have 8 year expiration dates.
