Suggestions for a friend please

She has to do 3 across in a small car (I think it's a Cavalier). The kids:

DS1, just turned 5 years old, 38lbs
DD, just turned 3 years old, approx. 35lbs (my guess)
DS2, 15 months, 26lbs (STILL RF!! YAY!!!)

Right now, DS1 and DD are in Graco FF-only seats w/harness (probably Cargo). DS2 is in an expired Britax convertible. She needs to get new seats for DS1 and DS2, and has a total of $300 to spend.

I'm thinking Nautilus for DS1 and Avenue for DS2? I just don't know how wide the Nautilus is, whether it will fit with 3 across. She does want a harnessed seat for DS1, not a BPB, and it has to be higher than 40lbs because he's already 38lbs. She also will be keeping DS2 RF.

What HWH seats are narrow? His seat is the one I'm having trouble with... DS2 could get an Avenue or Scenera, those are pretty narrow. I'm thinking a Radian is probably out since they move the seats between cars frequently and they need to be relatively easy to install, plus the RF seat has to be outboard (she wants it that way).

Any suggestions? She wants to go shopping in the next day or two. Thanks!

Is the MyRide as wide as the Nautilus? I know she doesn't need the convertible but all the HWH seats I've seen are wide. I doubt you can get a Nautilus in a 3 across in there.

Are the Cargos still in good condition/not expired? They are actually quite good for 3 across.
Is this car likely to be used for a long time, or are they looking to purchase a van/larger vehicle soon?

Not knowing that: I'd probably lean towards Radian for the 5 yr old- especially if she can install with LATCH. (Nautilus would be better if it fits.) Keep the 3 yr old in the Cargo, and get an Avenue for the 15 month old.

Then, if they had a Radian and still have the vehicle when the 3 yr old outgrows the Cargo they could do a narrow booster, Radian and Avenue.
If they went with the Nautilus they could do Nautilus, Radian, Avenue when the Cargo is outgrown.

As far as I know, the Gracos are okay (I haven't inspected them yet, but she said they're not expired). The 3 year old will be continuing to use one of them.

The vehicle is their primary car, and I don't think they'll be getting a new car any time soon.

I thought about a Radian, but I would want to make sure it installs well in her car both RF and FF before she buys, but I don't know that we'd be able to try one... there are none locally available (I searched when I was purchasing my last seat). The Radian would be ideal though if the Nautilus doesn't work.

Just curious... what is the height of the Cargo's top slots? She said that DS1 has several inches left... perhaps he's short in the torso. Not sure what difference that would make though, since he's too close weight-wise for any of the 40lb seats. :shrug-shoulders:
