I should be upset, right?--UPDATE

My Signo is under the recent recall, so I called Recaro. They told me that they would send a replacement seat, and told me how to return my other one. Well, my current Signo has a DOM of 12-20-08. I get the replacement today...it has a DOM of 11-17-07!!!!!!!! I was so mad! I called Recaro, and they basically gave me the runaround. First of all, they told me that I could use this new seat for 6 years, because I complained that it was so much older. I told her that this was not the case! She said that since it was in their warehouse, it was ok. That's so scary that they're giving out this kind of information. Then she told me that they basically had no control over which seats were sent out as replacements. Ugh! She said they are going to get back with me, because I told her that this was not acceptable. I have heard that Recaro has bad customer service, and I'm finding that to be true.

Re: I should be upset, right?

So did the recall only affect a certain range of DOMs? If not, then wouldn't an OLDER seat have the same issue? You'd think you'd get a NEWER seat if they had to make a design change. If they applied a "fix" to seat in their warehouse to address the recall, then it would have been better if they applied the "fix" to your current, newer seat.

I looked, and yep...the replacement seat is in the recall range. So I guess they must have "fixed" it. I just wish they would send me a newer seat that was okay to start with.

Okay, I do have to give Recaro some credit :) They just called me back, and they're going to send me one of the new updated 2009 models when they come in July! She said to use the older one for now, and they'll send me a new one as soon as they get them. Sweet!

I hope you wrote down her name and employee ID number, and the date and time of the call. I find it best to keep record of any such promises.

Good luck!

The recall is only for a specific DOM period (Nov 2007-Feb 2009) AND only if the adjuster is a certain color (gold or yellow, not clear or silver.) It is my understanding, if your DOM is within those dates, the next step is to check the color. If it is gold or yellow, then it is included in the recall.

I would have been upset with an older DOM too, glad they are going to make good on it.
