These are photos of my son's lower leg splint - he's got a minor fracture at the lower edge of his tibia (shin bone), caused by a shopping cart accident.

Old : The splint held on with the tensor bandage was applied at the fracture clinic of our local hospital, after a referal from the ER.

New : The new splint (white, with tape) was applied at Toronto Sick Kids hospital, in the ER (not the fracture clinic !).

Wonder where I'll be taking my kids from now on ??

That sure does seem like a dramatic difference. Hope he heals up quickly.

OUCH!

My Daughter broke her arm in gymnastics 2 weeks ago, we knew that if we went to the local ER we'd get no orthopedic called in - it was after 5pm. Figured our local Urgent Care could splint it just as good - but 1 was closed since it was wednesday, and the other wouldn't take her.

We drove the HOUR to Orlando to the hospital where our Ped Ortho Practice is (they are a division of the hospital). They are also a L1 Trauma Center. They set it, she saw the doctor on Friday and he had to do some more setting, but it was "ok".

A friends DD broke her arm that night - her trip to the ER netted a cast put on in the totally deformed position. I was really glad with our choice of hospitals - even if DH was ticked :D

Hope he's feel better soon!
