Roundabout under-cover Padding ? Did I create a hazzard?

While installing my roundabout RF a few months ago I ripped the foam pad that's under the cover.
A few months later I used a thin, cotton, toddler pillowcase (it fits widlth-wise perfectly) to cover the pad and I created a slit for the lower buckle to go thru normally. It does not even come close to the upper portion of the harness- it pretty much just covers the butt portion, and up the curve to about 1 or 2 inches of the back.
This makes install SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier (fishing the seatbelt thru used to take a few minutes because it would get twisted, or mysteriously stuck/lost and with the pillowcase it literally takes less than 10 seconds to get it thru smoothly).

But now reading about aftermarket stuff, I have to wonder if this would be a very bad thing. *I* don't see how it would affect function at all, but I figured that somebody on here would have more insight.
Is the tearing of the foam problematic in and of itself?

TIA

You should be able to get more foam I would think from Britax. I personally wouldn't use the pillow case b/c of aftermarket liability etc, Britax is pretty strict w/ that.

You can order more foam as I did last year for our Roundabout. My dd throw up all in her Roundabout and the foam piece smelled horrible from it so I replaced it.

Yes, Remove the pillowcase as Britax and all manufactures are very strict about anything aftermarket on their seats.

Ok. I'll remove it:( ;)
Do any of you think it's an *actual* hazzard? I don't want to void my warranty for sure, but I am curious now if I was being extrordinarily naughty.

What else do aftermarket things do besides void warranties?
Are carseat manufacturers liable for things if the seat was used 100% perfectly?
(If that topic has been discussed ad nauseum just tell me and I will dig around)

Thanks!:)

I don't think it would be an actual hazzard but that is just my personal opinion and no crash data behind that. It could cause it to fail in a crash that I don't know. Better to be safe then sorry.

Depending on what aftermarket product we are referring too. Things like the Bundle Me Up infant carrier cover or Mighty Tite. Those type of products are extremely dangerous to use. The Bundle Me Up actually goes between the child and the carseat/harness themselves. They decompress in a crash leaving the harness loose on the child which could result in ejection from the seat. The Mighty Tite is used to suposedly help tighten the carseat in the vehicle when using the vehicle seatbelt to install. These have been known to break or rip the seatbelt in a crash leaving the child & carseat unrestrained.

If you are using your seat correctly then yes the carseat manufacture is liable if it fails in a crash. If you are not using it correctly then you just removed all liability from them.
